Frame Relay

Frame Relay makes it possible to have multiple logical connections or Permanent Virtual Circuits (PVC’s) on one single physical connection to the network. For every PVC a certain throughput is agreed upon and guaranteed. This is called the Committed Information Rate or CIR. Normally the CIR is lower than the speed of the physical connection (Connection Rate).

Frame Relay is especially suited for LAN environments which are characterized by busy traffic. Because with Frame Relay it is possible to have multiple logical connections on a single physical connection, this technology proves to be cost-effective when connecting several branch-offices to a head-office. Besides cost savings on the infrastructure and modem-equipment, fewer ports are needed on the central equipment (usually a router).

Frame Relay Tariffs
SETAR offers Frame Relay circuits from 64Kbps to 2Mbps with symmetrical PVC’s of 16Kbps to 2Mbps. Pricing is based on a contract term of one (1) year. Frame Relay leased services include a CSU/DSU and exclude all other terminating equipment at the customer’s premises. Service included is a 7x24 support. Frame Relay circuits will be terminated by a V.35 interface (34-pin female Winchester connector).
Discounts are available for long term contracts and payment in advance.
